Picking your team
Each week Brent Brevak or Craig Heinen will email you a Google form to fill out for your team. You will select your name and pick 1 driver from each of 5 groups. The groups are all separated and you literally can’t pick multiple drivers in the same group so it’s really easy to fill out and submit. On ovals drivers are sorted by their current points scored for the season. For road courses we may alter the drivers a bit to account for guys who are lower in the points who are typically high end contenders on road courses. For the first 3 races the groups will be set by last year’s points.
Depending on the week, if there is no practice, picks are due just before the qualifying starts. If they are doing practice, picks will be due before the first practice. Don’t worry, we let you know the exact day/time picks are due each week in the email that has the google form.
Scoring
Scoring is simple. You get however many points your drivers get in that race between stages/final position. Just in case it comes up, you technically get however many points the car gets. So if you pick a driver who is racing a one off race and does not receive Cup Series points, or someone needs a replacement driver for some reason, you still get however many points the car gets for where they finished. If there is a unique situation where a car must completely withdraw, we will allow the player to select a new driver from that group only.
NASCAR Penalties
If you select a driver who’s disqualified immediately following post race inspection, they receive last place points for the actual race and his points for your team will reflect that. If a driver is penalized points later in the week, that will not count towards your team.
Post race disqualification=last place for that driver, no stage points
Midweek points penalty=not applicable
Forgetting to make Picks
If you fail to make selections before the deadline in a given week, you will just keep the same drivers as you had the previous week and receive points as normal. If one of your drivers from the previous week has changed groups, you will receive whoever is the lowest driver in the group he left. So for example you have William Byron in Group 2, you forget to make picks but Byron has now moved into Group 1. Your team will be all the same drivers as the previous week, except for Group 2 you will have whoever is the bottom driver.
Payouts depend on how many total entrants we have, but based on our normal player count it is usually as follows. There are 3 ways to win money.
Weekly
$25 each week to the highest points getter for that race (split evenly if there is a tie)
Winning Money!
Quarterly
We break up the first 26 races of the NASCAR regular season into 3 quarters. The first 2 quarters are 9 races, the 3rd quarter is 8. We keep track of points just for each quarter separate from the overall points. Everyone starts at 0 points to begin each quarter. That way, even if you have a terrible first couple of quarters, you can still have 1 great quarter and pocket some serious cash!
1st – $100
2nd – $50
3rd – $25
Regular Season (First 26 races)
1st – $125
2nd – $75
3rd – $50
Playoffs
1st – $340
2nd – $240
3rd – $150
4th – $100
5th – $80
Top non playoff – $50
Perfect Team
$50 This is split at the end of the year between players who were lucky enough to select a perfect team in any given week. That means you picked the drivers with the most points in each of the 5 groups. If there are no perfect teams, it’ll roll over to next season.
We will send out the full money payouts before the first race of the season after we know how many people are in the league.
Playoffs
We have a playoff system similar to that of NASCAR itself. Over the course of the first 26 regular season races we keep track of total points everyone accumulates (These do not reset during the regular season like the quarter points do). After 26 races, 16 total players will make the playoffs. The top 14 in yearly points automatically make it into the playoffs. Then, of the remaining players, the 2 players with the most weekly wins make it in as wild cards. If there is a tie for weekly wins, the player with the most points makes it.
To start the playoffs everyone’s points first reset to 0, then we add bonus points for where you were in points, and weekly wins. All of this will be laid out before the season starts and updated weekly so you’ll always know exactly where you are in points whether it’s for the quarter money/playoffs etc.
We do NOT have eliminations every 3 races like NASCAR does. It’s just a cumulative total of your points over the final 10 races, plus the bonus points you started the playoffs with. Whoever ends up with the most points wins! Plus money to the top 4-5.
Most importantly we hope everybody has fun and never hesitate to reach out with questions, comments or concerns!
